EuroMillions gives you a better chance of winning a prize than any other lottery in Europe, thanks to its 13 different prize tiers. Match all five numbers and both Lucky Stars to hit the jackpot, at odds of 1 in 139,838,160. Europe's favourite lottery also gives you overall odds of 13:1 of winning a prize.
EuroMillions currently has a minimum jackpot of approximately €15 million and a maximum jackpot capped at €220 million, making EuroMillions by far the largest lottery prize in Europe. EuroMillions also has annual Superdraws several times a year, automatically boosting the jackpot to €100 million. To read more about these special jackpots, and for news on upcoming draws, see our EuroMillions Superdraw page!
The draw occurs twice weekly. If the jackpot prize isnt claimed it will then roll over and be added to the next EuroMillions draw.
This maximum cap may change. For example, before March 6th, 2009 the top jackpot had been €185 million. For the time being, however, the top prize cannot rise above €220 million. If a maximum jackpot is reached then there will only be 2 draws at this this level before the money will roll down to be shared instead by the tier 2 winners.
EuroMillions was founded in 2004 by the national lottery operators of Britain, France and Spain. It later expanded to other countries making it a truly trans-national, trans-European lottery.
In 2011 Colin and Christine Weir from Scotland won a jackpot of €180 million jackpot. The maximum jackpot was then increased to its current max cap of €220 million. This amount has since been won twice. First, by Britons Adrian and Gillian Bayford in 2012, and second by an anonymous winner from Castelo Branco, Portugal, in 2014.
EuroMillions is played in 13 countries and territories throughout Europe, with the majority of players coming from the UK, France and Spain. Other participating countries include Ireland, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Portugal and Switzerland. EuroMillions is also available to play in Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco and the Isle of Man. With players from all over the continent taking part each week EuroMillions is, by far, the biggest and most popular international lottery in the world.
